Ok, I took 2 shots of this. One to show it's on a long stem, and then a slightly closer look at the top.

These just showed up along my fence. Any ideas?

Looks like my hollyhocks. Started out with large leaves and then just kinda grew upward. Specifically, the little trails on the leaves. I've got that too. But I've also got it on my cucumbers.

Hi, my first day at this site, but I think those lines are leafminers, best to pick them off and throw them away. They are little larvae that move between the layers of the leaf, difficult to kill sometimes. - Sophie

Can you get a different shot of this plant?
Back it up, just a little, and can we see the stem a little better?

Almost looks like a squash or pumpkin or watermelon or something??

looks like wild cotton. Are the leaves soft to the touch?

trails are snail trails.

I try to take one day at a time -- but sometimes several days attack me at once.

yes, it is soft to the touch, kinda velvety/silky soft. feels neat! hmm.. snail trails? the coloring appears to within the leaf, not on it. of course, I don't know much about these things. [dunno]

sounds like wild cotton. it'll get really tall. like 5 ft or so and I don't think it makes a bloom or anything but they are a pretty plant. we use to chop them down out of the regular cotton but they do grow other places besides a cotton patch.
sail tril..where the bugs crawled around and left a mark on the leaf.

I think you're right about the wild cotton. Looked it up.. also referred to as "velvetleaf". It's really neat to touch!

I thought I'd update this, since I looked back and never did..lol.

It does get blooms! Pretty little orange blooms. And there's a funky head on other parts that looks like a ball with spikes sticking out all around the top, and they were green, but now, the balls are changing color to black. I don't think it's sick or anything, it appears to be "normal". I wish I could take new pics but my camera died, and I have a new digital on layaway, but unless someone wants to gift me $170, I won't have it for awhile.

Ok, so I did take a pic not too long ago with my 35mm, and had it put on a disc so I could upload. Here's a not so great photo of my wild cotton.
