Geezzzz I almost stepped on this, I was clearing an area to admend soil to plant brugs and looked down and saw this butterfly or large Moth? The bodies are furry there were three of these about 2 ft apart.. anyone know what the name is??? First ones I've seen this year.. Heyyyyy does this mean Spring is Here!! What you have is a large Moth, I'm not sure what kind but I'll see what I can find out about it on Google Image Search.bbbbbbbbb A bird in the hand......can sometimes be a mess.

Very cool! It looks like a Polyphemus moth,the most common of the silk moths. Named for the one-eyed giant in Greek mythology.bbbbbbbbb HAPPY BIRTHDAY CINDY!!!!!!!

I though Polyphemous Moth too< but wanted to check further. It was 71 degrees F. here today bbbbbbbbb A bird in the hand......can sometimes be a mess.

We birders switch over to Butterflies, Moths, Insects, and other critters when the bird activity is slow. Even when Bird activity is high we have a major interest in butterflies, too.bbbbbbbbb A bird in the hand......can sometimes be a mess.
