Post all your sites here for us to get some seed templates for sharing if you'd like...
They're alot of fun to do................. And a good winter, yucky day, raining, cold, muddy, don't feel like going outside project to keep you happy and full of hope for the next coming seasons' bountiful harvest of seeds and produce.
I can almost feel the sunshine on me in the middle of winter when I do these.

I'll also post a white or blank one in a while that you can design for your self. They're alot of fun, if you have programs you can even put your own face or kids or veggies or flowers on your own. I do mine with American Greeting Card cd. My husband does some in Paint Shop Pro. And some in Adobe Photo Shop 7. Corel Draw is also another one available. Weezie

Sounds like you folks are going to be busy during the winter months. Maybe you should open a little shop or go into business online selling already made seed packets. Or is that illegal! Catlover

Yep, illegal, These are for each person's individual use. If you have seeds you'd like to send to anyone here on the forum, that's cool. Or any other forum of trading, like to neighbors, relatives, church donations, but you can't make money off of them, selling them, You have to have the permission of the makers. But use them for your own saving......... Kinda makes it so much more funner!!! (Is that a word???) I like to see the different kinds. Some one sent me some seeds on this forum, and I sent some back as a Thank~You!! I have alot of fun making them on the yuckie days. I gave some to a friend that was moving and she couldn't take her garden with her, but she could grab some seeds, She said she'd think of me the following summer!! Weezie

As I go thru the template sites, I go ahead and print a sheet or two (or seven ) of the ones I like the best, stack them on my desk, and leave them for those "yucky" days, or when I watch a movie. That's when I put them together. They're right there that way, and I don't spend time surfing for the best ones and waiting for them to print. I save the sites in my favs, that way if I want a packet for a particular type of seeds, I can find it quickly. Thanks for adding to my collection, Weezie!

I printed some up and gave them to a girl I know at church and she was moving but couldn't take her garden with her, so I printed up some and she could grab the seeds.
I use a blank template and I have a Creata~Card program insert those pictures on them too! so much fun in the winter time this year!!

Thanks Again!!

Found another site for seed packet templates!!! What's so great about these is that many of them actually have a pic of the specific seed on the envelope, so you can use them for seed ID as well as storing!
I wish they were all there, as listed, but a nice aray of them!!!
yea, Weezie, hopefully she'll add more pics as she gets them. Even if you don't need the packets, I think it would also be helpful to someone who doesn't know what to look for when collecting seeds from a particular plant.

Have we been printing up our seed packets?? This is a good time of year when you need to start hunting them down, and checking them out and seeing what hits your fancy!!!!
When you might have a second or two when watching a show, or something, we are less likely to be outside and really busy!!!!
One suggestion Nikkal gave was to look them over and see which ones you like.... and print a bunch of them up right now, and put them in a folder, then when you have a cold, or something, get your folder and scissors and cut away... *I actually used a cutting board for all the big long cuts, and then did the little cuts by hand..
And you can always, cut them up and another day, glue them together........... Then it doesn't make it so much to do in one day. I did some in a day, but I had all day to do them.
What fun it was last year to have them made and just able to grab and go put the seeds right in!!!
Please, let me know how you did, or any tricks you learned or figured out along your way..... That helps the next gardener.... And let us know how much fun you had doing them..
Great job for doing with your girls (daughters, granddaughters, MOM"S W/ MOM"S!!!!!, etc.. you get the point)
Weezie
P.S. If you find any other ones let me know!!! T~Y!

I have been using Elmer's glue for my seed packs. Bought this stuff today, and it is AWESOME! No drying time, no glue seeping out, glueing the pack together, etc. It sticks IMMEDIATELY and PERMANENTLY! It is GREAT!

I just happened to see it at Kroger and picked it up. I've seen it at WallyWorld, though. I'd say any brand would do if you make sure it says "permanent" glue.
I bought a pack that had 5 tubes in it! I have used it for everything! Yesterday Brennan used it to glue back a piece of wallpaper in the kitchen that was coming off on one corner. It is great!

Weezie ~ the office supply stores carry the Avery glue - you know, like Staples, Office Max, Office Depot, etc - if you can't find it at WalMart.

A source for neat pictures to put on blank seed packets is Burpee's web site. They have lots of photos of pages from old catalogs, all the way back to 1886.
I've been using them for wallpaper and in my Webshots screensaver. Even better than orange crate art.
Ann1
PS Decided to try orange crate art and found a few good sites, especially one from California Historical Society where you can use their crate art to create your own label. Orange Crate Art Exhibit
With a Google you'll also find lots and lots of sites for info on the music group Orange Crate Art. But there are pictures in the midst of those.

Somehow I missed page two of this topic and finally found someone had posted the address for the clipart books and stickers from Dover (one of my favorite publishers.) (I don't remember who listed it, but many times when I go back to check, I lose what I've already written.) They have ClipArt cd's for just a few dollars compared to the hundreds I've seen on other web sites.
I have subscribed to their "clip art sampler" sent by e-mail every week, with from 6 to 12 or more downloadable clip art pictures from their books and/or cd's. There is a wide choice each week, and I don't always like all of them.
I just quit Dover because my email changed when my 2nd ISP burned down (my first went bankrupt) My third somehow gave me someone else's name and password, so I'm trying a fourth and am now using yahoo and hotmail as backups. I don't trust any of them anymore! But I just re-enlisted.
Any way, to sign up for the free Dover Email Sampler, go to

Do you guys who make the seed packet use regular computer paper or do you get a stiffer paper like those used for index cards, I found some old folders and did some on that but I still need to get to Walmart to buy some of that Averys permanent glue, the elmers just isn't doing it for me.

Ann1, IT WAS ME, IT WAS ME!!!! I love Dover's!!!
I have gotten that publication for probably 20 years now... *oh, it seems like it* I'll have to sit down and really calculate..
I used to get the children's stencils. (*I used to make painted sweatshirts and those things were great!!! I would make new stencils out of them, and use the one's I made and could keep those from getting ruined.)
And there's a ton of stickers there that you can make plain seed packets and then decorate with the stickers, LOT'S OF FUN FOR KIDS!!!!
And I LOVE the orange crate labels you posted... VERY NICE!! I love the old fashioned ones.... Thanks for adding those!!

Thanks everyone, I just had a lot of fun downloading the shapes and making up my own ideas for packaging. I have hundreds of mini zip lock bags for my seeds, but they will insert perfectly into these pretty paper ones when I am done. Great fun on this fall, wet and cold evening. Cece. PS, if anyone finds anymore, please post the sites.

what i do is buy a bunch of the small envelopes plastic ones from a fishermans store that puts lures, etc, into them, they are bought in bulk for the fish supplies and they are a small clear zip lock baggie, with a seal to zip tight, and they are very reasonable and wont bust open like the paper ones.. not as pretty but never makes a mess or mixes seeds up,, you may contact me for more info.. You print them from your computer.. on regular paper for your printer....
And thennnnnnn, you'll see the black outlines for the outside of the envelopes... cut along those lines... And fold accordingly... 3 sides are the container and one is the top flap...
Let us know if you need any more help... Always glad to....
