Hi there, I'm a new member here...I'm also fairly new to gardening. Following illness in my family, I've been taking over some gardening duties in our fairly big garden. Me and my father have been trying to work out what this plant is...but although we have found things similar, they're not quite the same as our plants. To my surprise I found a picture of the very plant we were trying to identify on the front cover of the book I am currently reading:

http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/0755304896.02._SS500_SCLZZZZZZZ_V1128340006_.jpg

It's the purple flower perennial on the bottom of the cover. I have 7 or 8 in my garden....yellow ones, pink ones, purple ones, white ones, peach coloured ones. They're over a metre tall and they have mid-green leaves which are kinda hexagonal/5 lobed.

I hope someone can help me.

If you mean the full colored flower (looks pinkish purple to me) with a yellow center, those are hollyhock, all the way to the right, the one drawn in outline is foxglove(biennial that re-seeds)
