my folks moved into a new house that they built and my Mom loves this plant and wants to know what it is. So I told her that I knew you guys would come through for her. At first I thought it looked like some kind of squash plant?? Let me know what you think [dunno]

Looks like Castor Bean (Ricinus communis) to me.

Castor bean keeps deer and rodents out of the garden. I havent found it to be invasive here.
