Hello there, you may know me from the Sunflower garden thread. I need some help finding out what type of tree this maybe? The name would be usefull so I can search information, but I found the seed pods at a church near by my area that I go to.

I took the seeds and planted them in this pot. It took like 3 weeks to sprout!! I almost gave up! Now it has been 1 months now! and its looking great!
I know that the name Should start with Japanese something....?
Please help

The flower's blooms are pink...and fuzzy looking and have a odd smell. Its not a negative smell, yet I'd say not a positive smell...It's nothing you wouldn't want to get away from.

Albizia julibrissin

people commonly call this 'mimosa', it is not truly. the scent is wonderful.

being from Cali, you have probably heard folks call the Jacaranda mimosifolia by the name 'mimosa'

true mimosa

call local nurseries. if they don't have it, they can order it.

also. if you see one with little 'volunteers' near it, dig one up. (with permission)

RugbyHukr,

Thanks for the clarification between a true mimosa and the Albizia julibrissin. I live in southern Louisiana, and see the Albizia julibrissin all over the place, and thought they were neat and different. [Smile] And have wanted one, but unknowingly, I've been calling it a mimosa.

Seeing the real difference between the two, I would much rather have a true mimosa, and I've not seen one around here yet. Maybe I can start the trend in my neck of the woods. [flower]

Thanx! [muggs] [thumb] [clappy]
