I got these cuttings from a bush outside my friend's townhouse complex. There were 2 of these bushes and they were about 3 feet wide by 3 feet high - just gorgeous and flashy!

Anyone know who I am?

Lynne, I know what this is somewhere in the depth of my brain but so far have not been able to pull the information out of the muck. Hopefully someone will come along who can think better than I can today.

I thought it was a broom something or other... [Big Grin]

It is kin to Scotch Broom (Cytisus scoparius) but the red coloring indicates that it is Cytisus burkwoodii a hybrid....

Thanks Bill! [kissies]

I have actually found that this one is called
Cytisus scoparius 'Lena'

there was even a thread about it here on the GH a few years ago - it came up in a google search - imagine that!

GH thread about Lena's Broom

and on the internet... Lena's Broom

Lena's is exactly what mine looks like - now I need to find one for sale! [dunno]

Sure is nice Lynne. Glad you got it figured out. The look of it must have triggered my memory cuz we have its cousin the scotch broom all over the place here.

This is the first year I`ve seen Lena`s Broom. They are absolutly beautiful. I saw them at a nursery I go to, but, just today, I saw one that has been growing for a few years. Envious!!! I had a scotch broom that had smaller yellow flowers. I loved it but it died. :-(((

I am going to have to start looking closer at the ones we have here for color variation. And try and pull a few of the smaller plants. If I am successful, I will let you know to share the wealth.
