Does anybody have Wisteria vines they've started from seed? I'm wondering if the seeds have to be cold treated. A friend gave me some & I put them in the frige, just in case.
It sorta makes sense that they would need Stratification, cuz they self seed, & I've sorta figured out that the majority of the time, self seeding plants do better if the seeds go through a "winter". ... (but DON'T write that down with ink, cuz it's only MY GUESS!)

Wisteria seeds don't require stratification, but you need to nick or file the seed coat and soak the seeds in hot water for 24 hours to get the highest germination rate. (30 days @ 65 degrees)

Yes! (& extremely interesting, how you para-phrased that quote!)
Gotcha, Bill... (Scarification & a hot soak, not Stratification) Thanx! "30 days @ 65 degrees" WOW! I'd better get right on that! I just hate those long germinating things! All it takes is 1 kid moving 1 tag, & I can't remember what's in which tray!
