Just curious as to what you all have in (or would put in) a window box.
Thanks,
Gail

Hey Gail....
Can you tell us a little more about your window box??

Like where it is, in sun, shade, partial??

Is it easily watered?

And how big is it???

Hmm, it's not that big. I have 2; they are both about two feet by 1/2 foot. They get the afternoon sun on them. I can water them fairly easily. Plus they are both right about my flower beds, so the extra water just runs into them. Thanks,
Gail

This might sound silly, but are they off the ground??
*like can you put in plants that would hand down
as well as grow up in the air.??*

I love the hanging Sweet Potato Vines 'Margarita'
(this one's a lime green colored),
'Blackie'(this one's black), and the vine Licorice Vine Helichrysum petiolare...(more of a greyish/white/silver)

And more hanging down vines are Nasturiums, Scaevola*neat purple flowers*, Bacopa (Sutera)-
Calibrachoa- commonly called 'Million Bells'.
pretty little bells like, come in different colors..and I love the trailing verbena's..

Lobelia's *they like a bit moister soil but look pretty*, and even begonia's do nice...

Heck you could even put in strawberries, they'd hang over the sides too...(and you get bonus fruit too)

Just remember, all plants are weeds really...
Hybridizers find plants with either pretty flowers, or habits and breed those good traits in and throw out plants with bad behavior...

I know exactly how you feel....
I went to a nursery I go to, about an hour away,
"in the city" and they have some reallllllly nice perennials and selection... and I know the owner from several seminars I attented.. and he was standing there one day, and I was shaking my head..and I said the things that they are selling now adays... and he knew exactly what I was talking about... and he said it's all in the demand of the public.....and new plants...

I am lucky that I have quite a few nerseries around me but they seem kinda snooty!! Not worth asking any questions cause the don't really help you out!

I never thought I'd meet another weed lover !
I love dandelions, mustard, and sour grass !
In fact, I wish I could find a nice stand of sour grass and mustard to dig up and bring home !
You'll NEVER see me trying to eradicate dandelions !
I'm curious to know if there is sour grass in other areas of the country?
Also, does anyone know of or have a wild plant called FIVE FINGER PLANTAIN?
My Grandma told me that it was a wild plant used for cuts and scrapes. None of the plantains I've researched seems to be the one. Grandma said that it had five outspread leaves like fingers.
The plants grew wild where she was born, in Euerka, California.
I sure would love to have this mystery solved.

I've got that creeping jenny everywhere. I hate that stuff and I can't get rid of it. When I was at Lowe's last Sunday I saw another weed they were selling that I try to pull up in my yard. It's called cup flower, I think. I have it everywhere and it's for sale at Lowe's. [Big Grin]

I love purples, reds, pinks, blues, yellows. I'm thinking about some trailing plants, maybe an ivy that I can take into the house in the Fall. I'll need to walk around Lowes and see what they have that takes my fancy. I've been "researching" through my plant magazines.
Thanks everyone [Smile]
