I am The Bird Man here, but I've never seen a Long-Billed Curlew in person. Shorebirds are my weakness.
I spent a summer in Mackay Idaho when I was 13. My father was in the army with the man who later became the head Game Warden of Southeast Idaho. I spent the Summer on the fish hatchery where he lived and spent my time fishing for humongous trout and exploring. I was not into birds at the time, but vividly remember the magpies and those cute little quail with the one feather on top of their head.
bbbbbbbbb A bird in the hand......can sometimes be a mess.

Thornious, I'm not really sure why there are so many shorebird types when I'm inland--except I'm not far from the snake river. I can surely say that bird was the weirdest thing I've ever seen.
