Last fall I threw a Polish Amaranth plant across the fence into the vacant lot next door. This spring they started grading that lot and apparently scattered the seeds and here is the result:

Thats awesome! I've had fun with my castor beans this year. Hurricane Rita scattered quiet a few last year....chocolate mint too.(mint grows taller in full sun& DON'T mix well with hurricanes!)
so what ya tossing over this year????????????

It's a little hard to tell from the photo, but there's also a ton of morning glories as well. That lot used to be wooded, and I sort of used it as a dumping ground for my fall garden clean-up. But now they are grading it and soon there will be apartments there, so I guess I'll have to find another way to dispose of my old plant material! BTW, the amaranth grew better there than in my own garden.

I was just thinking the same thing lol. Here mine gets fertilized and hand watered and everything and those are much larger. Of course the seed heads on mine are much bigger. I didn't see any on those.
It does suggest I should get out there and harvest though so they don't self seed themselves all over the place lol.

That's a great looking wildflower area now, Alan. Good job!!! lol! If you hadn't told us, I would have thought that was a planned area. I love most of the Amaranths but have shied away from the Castor Bean. I may have to give that a try next year.
You could start bundling your fall clean-up rubbage and ship to your friends.
