Hi, I have planted some lilies this year and I don't know if they have to be dug up this fall. So my question is, can lilies stay in the ground over the winter? I know that some bulbs have to be removed from the ground in the fall and re-planted in the spring but I don't know which ones. Also, I have been wondering what the difference is between daylilies and regular lilies. Can anyone tell me? Thanks for any information.

I'll try to give you my definition of the difference between Daylilies and others.
Daylilies grow from Rhizomes (similar to an Iris) and the blossoms only last one day.
Asiatic, Oriental, etc. lilies grow from bulbs. Each of their blooms last for several days.
You would need to know which zone you are in and what the hardiness is of the bulbs you planted to determine whether they need to be lifted in the fall.
