I love all cone flowers and am fortunate to have many established plants of various colors. Each fall I cut all the seed heads and crumble them up all around other parts of the garden. I know cross pollination effects other similar plants and distorts colors, will that happen to cone flowers too ?

Hey BFVISION, I had white coneflowers next to my purple ones..
And the following year, they started turning, a pale pink, the following year they were totally pink..
I do know there is a "dominance" thing with plants, the stronger will over power the weaker...
Same for phlox, the tall variety.. I had a pale purple and a pale pink.. They lived here, for a long time, with the previous owners even.. Then one day, in an other area, a vibrant pink clump sprouted and wowwwwwwwwwww were they dominate.
Now the two other clumps that I had that were the other two colors, are now changing... The purple one is darkening... and the light pink one is developing a dark pink/magenta ring on the inside..
So yes, they can change..
What colors do you have????
