I live in south eastern Michigan and I dug up all my iris last weekend. I separated them and planed to replant them in a different area. I have about 60 plus bulbs to plant. My question is....can I still plant them or should I wait till spring. They are waiting in my garage outside for the big decision. The night time temp has been below 32 degrees for the last 2 nights. It was in the 50's when I dug them up. Please help.
Thanks Barb

If you can still work the ground, go ahead and plant them, but they'll need heavy mulch** to save them from frost-heave come March or April. But rake away he mulch after it's thawed out. If the ground's already frozen, store them in a basket in the garage.
** Lawn clippings or shredded leaves will do fine.
