I have 2 Hydrangeas both in the same flower bed. Neither one of them have flowers on them this year. Both are very health with lush green leaves and a about half day of sun. Any help would be great. Thanks

Hi, do you know what type of hydrangeas they are??????? Some types bloom on old wood and some bloom on new wood....

Also I was wondering how big they were? I have 3 mature ones that are huge and in full bloom, but I also have 2 smaller ones that we planted 2 years ago that haven't even budded yet. They will soon, they are just slower than the big ones. Did you just plant them this spring or have they been in your garden for a while?

Rose Tree , Here in Northern Jersy I am waiting on the same plant as you. Are you in Zn 6? Mine are still growing, bloom on new wood but appear to be slower this year then last. Maybe I am just not patient enough. I put hollytone down about 2 months ago and that should help. Good Luck

I live in Zone 6, and just planted them last year. They get watered about every 2 to 3 days depending on the rain and temp. I have not test the soil but I have other plants in the bed that are doing very well. I will try the hollytone and I may have to wait until next year for blooms. Thanks for all the helpful hints.

If they are mophead hydrangeas the buds form on the previous years growth and may have been killed by a late frost which is common in zone 6. This has happened to me several times, especially with newly planted ones. I have found that the more mature the hydrangea, the less often it occurs though.
