I have little black lumps on my avocado seedling, they fall off if you rub the stem, but they come back the next day. Does anyone know how to get rid of them?

Pie Eater,
Cute name.....luv it!!!!

I'm not too sure about your plant,
but there are few here that do know
about Avacado's...

In the meantime, if you do a FORUM SEARCH
and type in AVACADO, I'm sure you'll get
a few posts to come up....

It could be scale insect. Do they squish under your fingers? As it's a small plant, just keep removing them by hand. Are there ants on the plant or in the pot? Ants move them about and 'farm' them to use the sweet secretions they secrete.
If you wipe the leaves and stem with whiteoil or pestoil (diluted in water) it will help keep them away. Don't put the plant in the sun after doing this. Or do it on a cool afternoon. The sun can heat the oil and blister the leaves.

Longy...are you sure ants move scale insects? I thought they only moved aphids. [dunno]

LOL. Yeah I'm sure Pepper. Though don't take my word for it. Do a google. (They also do the same with mealy bug. Probably any other sap sucker which exudes 'honeydew' as well.)
