Hi all, I seek some advice re. when to plant Chili seeds. I have added some chilis to a salad and saved the seeds. Am I able to plant these seeds straight away, or should I wait a certain period of time before planting? Looking forwars to your comments. Take care Peter

I am drying mine to plant in the spring. Not sure what they would do if you put them in the ground right now. Eager to see though.
What season are you in currently. We are coming up on fall here in Nebraska, USA.

Hi Triss, thanx for your info. Its 3days into spring here in Brisbane, allthough they say u can plant anytime of year here, as the climate is sub tropical. I mite stick a few in, and then see what happens. Take care Peter

yes, I did like the snow also, but got used to the warmth very quickly. I grew up in germany. Moved to Australia when i was 14.

I saved seeds from a bell pepper and planted them a few days afterwards. Now I have about 20 bell pepper plants. They seem to be doing just fine and they have peppers almost as big as the one I originally bought!
I think you can plant them right afterwards without drying.

They do not look like they are competing too much. I stared mine which were a package of mixed seeds in a container on my desk. When they got to big for the pot, I took sets of them and planted in the ground about 6 inches apart and they are doing wonderfully. I think peppers are quite adaptable!
Of course I will never buy a mixed seed pack again cuz I cannot tell what I am growing on some of them.

When I saw the post of chilli peppers, I just had to share this with you. I have read that cayene pepper sprinkled in flower beds will keep dogs/cats/squirrels out. I went the extra mile & bought a huge jar of the crushed pepper seeds. I had peppers sprouting up all over the flower beds. Some I transfered to the vegetable garden, I had a bountiful harvest. I used those hot peppers to make the pepper jelly & the vinegar.

Brissichili I normally let my seed sdry before palnting them but you don't have to. I am going to start some seeds soon from my Jalapeno's as well as my Thai Chili seeds. MY Caribbean are just now making fruit. When they doo Mike57 gets the first batch. Jimmy
