I received an Amaryllis Kit for Christmas. Didn't put it in the pot till after New Years, here it is 3 weeks later!

I can't get over how quickly it bloomed. It never even got leaves...just flower stalks. Excuse the mess in the background...I'm remodeling the kithcen and just piled stuff up where ever I had room! If you look closely in the mirror you can see Missy in the recliner with her hair wrapped up in a towel.

WOW! That's gorgeous. I wonder why it never grew leaves??? How will the bulb grow without them? Although from the looks of it, it flowered right nicely all by itself. Mine is about half the size of yours, with rather small leaves this time, who knows? Maybe you have a mutant amaryllis on your hands! It's gonna be the hottest thing next Christmas, who needs leaves!!!

wow! that's gorgeous! i'm supposed to be getting some amarylis seeds from somebody on "the other site" and they said that they sometimes grow them in a glass bowl with water in it and it takes about a month for the roots to start forming...i think i'll try that...it sounds neat :-) i'm gonna take a peek in walmart next time i go to see if they sell amarylis kits :-)
