Is it wise to try to top off a leggy single stem plant like a palm that is quite old? How do I go about it?

robin, it really depends on the type of plant. if it is truly a palm, don't do it. if it is a draceana or diffenbachia there are lots of good reasons why you should and could. so... there is no simple answer, but if you will tell us exactly what you are refering to, we can help. by the way, if i didn't welcome you before on here, i want to do it now!

Thank you for the welcome. Yes, it is really a palm and I was afraid that it would be detrimental. The poor thing is on such a skinny stalk and can't stand alone but it is old and quite meaningful to me so I guess it will have to stay with a stick alongside it. Thanks.
