This past summer I brought home some of the leaves/stems of my Grammy's african violets, and put them into some soil (followed the directions in a gardening book).
My problem now is when + how to put them into pots? They each are growing new leaves(5-8 each. Do I put each in it's own pot, or put several together in one pot? Also, is there a certain type of pot that would be best?

Hey Barley! I have had the best luck with putting the individual plants in pots of their own. I get the smallest plastic "self watering" (the kind with the spout at the bottom to water them by) and then put them in the sunniest window sill I have. Since you have been able to root yours (you wouldn't have new leaves if you didn't) where ever you have had them to be rooted should be one of the best places. good luck and keep us posted!

But what I really want to know is when to pot them...how big should they be?

if they have 5 to eight leaves or more a piece, then you can pot them any time from here on out. i would pot them up when the leaf spread is about the same as the diameter of the pot you are going to put them in.

you can use those 1 oz food service cups look in craft section for the mini terra cotta pots lowes carrys the lil mini watering pots for AV some plastic some porclin type also some venders on e bay have the 2 piece wick watering pots
I started my leaves in choc covered cherry trays.I cut them out and stuck a hole or slit in bottom of each pot and it sets on a butter lid bottom in a dome .they say 2-3 baby leaf sets and is ready to move.usually when are 8 or more weeks old

I went looking for a tiny pot...haven't had any luck so far! My Grammy suggested those tiny plastic bathroom cups, but the store here only carries the paper ones. So after wandering around the store I stumbled across a little plastic 'condiment cup'...if I make some little drainage holes, it should work, right?

barley, that will work, i have severy plants in some of those... the larger ones sit very nicely on a small coffee cup! I even have a cactus in one.
