I know there is some commercial stuff out there. Starts with a 'D' but I can't think of the name of it. It's sold in most stores like Kmart and Walmart and hardware stores.

What I'm wondering is...is there an organic solution to ant problems? I don't like the commercial stuff myself unless there is no other alternative. [dunno]

There are SO MANY organic fables of ant control, actually Cinnamon or hot (cayeene) pepper sprinkled on the mounds will do the job, the list of controls is endless, and most make them Re-locate, but not far enough! Someone else posted on here to use corn meal, they eat it and explode, haven't tried that, but it sound like it would work [dunno] borax crystals and sugar mixed, hot water, and even "HUMAN Urine"(supposedly the human Hormones KILL the queen and the ants move) are among the many Ant Fixes!

I've been using uncooked grits for ant control for 20 years. They eat it and when they drink water they swell up and explode(yes I know its dangerous to feed Cindy's imagination! [Big Grin] )

since you can't find grits there, get the coursest cornmeal you can, some of it is nearly the consistancy of grits...

Okay you guys....I am TRYING to be an organic ant killer [Roll Eyes] of the very aggressive, many multiple queen Argentine ANTS ....In the past I have been using Diazanon and Terro liquid poison with a lot of success....I don't want to get them immune to these poisons and only give them the shock treatment when completely out of control...but it is reaching that time again. I thought I would go by your suggestions and try corn meal/ grits. Well at first they were taking it into their little itty bitty holes that they have everywhere....but now they are coming back out of the hole with the grits/cornmeal....(no they are not eggs...I know the difference). HELP....what now before I break down and use the diazanon??????
Oh yeah...tried the boiling water...didn't work...drains to slowly in the granite/clay to do any good and there are holes everywhere. These are itty bitty holes the ants come in and out of...not those mounds.

Why aren't they eating the cornmeal/grits? AND why are they bringing it back out of the nests? [dunno]

There's no real way to "get rid of ants".You can only control them.Any insecticide with a high concentration of Acephate applied to the mound and lawn will help control them. You'll see results in one day.
