Hi Everyone,

I`m very new to gardening and plants in general, and a very good friend is giving me a Fuchsia in a hanging basket! I`m keenly interested in giving it a happy and long life, so here are a few questions.
Do they like light and how about watering and feeding? How about any other special considerations?
I might add that here in the high desert( Bend, Oregon ) the elevation, close to 4000`, causes concerns for most all my friends over gardening.
Any advise from all you green thumbs would be very much appreciated along with any directing towards good books on high desert growing!
Thanks, Richard

Hi Richard [wayey]
I don't live in the high desert, and I haven't any fuchsias, but I did find this online that may help you: Fuchsia Care

& also this: High Desert Gardener's Journal

Hi Richard,
I used to live in Bend when I was little. I think we lived in a sub division called Dechutes River Woods, but it was a long time ago. I might be mistaken.

Hello everyone,

My fuchsia is hanging beautifully out under the eve of the front deck porch! I have a few questions.
In this spot it receives direct sunlight on one side for about 2-3 hours per day, in the late afternoon. Is this enough sunlight, and should I rotate it every second day?
Thanks for all,
Richard

Filtered light is best for fuschias, so yours should hotter. I had mine hanging under the front porch roof on the south side of my house, so they can take some sun also. Just keep them watered well and pick off all the spent flowers. Feed every 10 days or so, and water often to keep evenly moist. Pinch off the shoot tips every few weeks to keep tha plant bushy.
