Hi all,

Just a quick question about my asparagus. I looked at it yesterday and it has started to come up. Am I supposed to cut the tops of them off before they really start to get going or am I supposed to just let them alone and when they get about 6 inches to cut them and I can eat them??

Hi Jennifer,
my asparagus is just beginning to come up too.
I let mine get about 6 inches before I pick them.
They grow really fast,I check mine every day.
Yummy!

Yes, the previous owners of our house said they cut them twice a day!! Thanks for the info. I just didn't know if I had to trim them first.

I let mine get to about a foot before I pick it. I trim off the tough skin of the lower stalk to get more that's usable. I haven't seen any sign of my asparagus, but am expecting it any day now.
