Has anyone tried these water filled kozy coats???
Do they work??
How soon can I put out my tomatoe plants or can I put the seed right in it??
A friend has given me one to try with some "Sub Artic Plenty" Tomatoe seeds Don't know if he is tring to tell me something

Limey, I haven't used them... but they are in the same context as the wallowater then click on FAQ (frequently asked questions) Should give about the same info for the other one,
I have heard that the color RED is supposed to do something for the tomato plant, they have put out a red mulch paper for underneath the plant for higher yield???? Not sure what it is, stimulates the plant with something I guess???? I can't remember!
I can not remember if I've talked with anyone here on the forum that has used them>????? If you do get one even if it's just for a trial, would you let us know the out come?????????? Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee! Because I would be *and I'm sure the other gardeners would like to know too*

P/S Did your wife ever find a source for seeds the Black Eyed Susan Climbing Vine?? Someone posted to me where she can get some, I'll have to go back and hunt which post it is... I have boyscouts in a bit, and I'll look it up tonight, I think it was a Canadian catalog??? Not sure??? I'll find it!!

Limey, I'm going to be curious about what others have to say about these. They are more commonly known as Wall O Waters. I too am in zone 4 and my grandmother gave me hers one year. I found that they were really clumsy to fill, you almost want 4 hands so you don't accidently crush your plants. And then they worked wonderfully in there and were as snug as a bug..........and then it was time to remove them because it was starting to get really warm and of course the plants were much bigger and that took at least 6 hands. And then the plants kinda went into a shock for a couple weeks and got real sick looking but eventually did rebound,but I'm sure the added stress did'nt help them much. I'm trying to find other alternatives myself for getting my plants out earlier and yet protecting them, but thats my story, hope to hear other opinions on this.

I was just doing some reading up on it, some say it can get moldy *probly from the sun and water, sitting too long, and like Shamarion said, you need six hands to fill. Hmmmmmmm????
I also read and have previously heard about doing plastic gallon milk jugs filled with water. Now, it's not going to protect from snow, but if you fill 4 or 6 to put around it, the effect is supposed to be the same, the sun heats the water during the day, and releases it during the night. ??? Try a couple of different ways and see....
For me, not to sound synical, I'm always sooooo far behind in everything, I don't have to use these products. I finished planting my tomatoes the end of june...still got a whopping crop!! (I did have mine in a mini greenhouse thing, and repotted them twice???~So, they were growing their roots in the pots, but had I planted seeds then, I'd have frozen mater's!! )

There's no diff between wall-o water or kozy-coats except colour thanks for info. I've put 6 Tomatoe seeds in pot in the basement when they are about 4/5 ins tall I'll put them under 'The Water' see what happens.

Yes I start a lot of seeds only got Onions in sofar there about 4ins high 3 diff varietys lots of time yet o and 6 tomatoe seeds

Weezie, I've heard you mention the milk jugs before and I really didnt give it much thought, but now I'm thinking I'm going to try it.I'll need to start rinsing and saving lots of jugs but its free and I can recycle when I'm done. The thing that I really like is that how I told how my plants went into a shock after removing the wallowaters, with this I can just slowly spread them farther out from each other to harden them off gently. And on really cold nights,or snow I could just throw plastic or something over them till it passes.Thanks for the tip,,,,,now I need to add a room onto the house to hold those jugs I need to save,
