I followed the link Jiffymouse gave me and the photo doesn't look like my plant and neither does the description fit exactly.
Mine has RED veins in the leaves that are two toned green. And the new leaves do seem to be rolled but I haven't seen them close at dark. And mine really does look more like a vine than anything that could become bushy.
Geez, I wish I could show you a picture but I don't have the technology to do that.
Any ideas? Merme

Yes, that's how my leaves look exactly! But why is mine three feet long...a lush vine hanging down off my kitchen counter and not too much fullness in the area of the pot? And, are the leaves really supposed to close at night?
I'd really like to make cuttings of this and pot it to look more full as well as to give as a gift.
Forgive me for being such a slow learner, but...

Your leaves don't close? Hmmm...that's odd. I don't know what's up with that.
Actually, I don't know much about what's up with any of my plants! I just water them every now and then and feed them once in a blue moon and they all grow like crazy. I don't even know what half my plants are!

yes, that is a type of prayer plant... just a different variety, and no, those don't close at night like the other ones, but the propagation is the same. cut a piece off, plop it in water and let it get roots, then plant it up!

Thanks so much for clearing up my confusion!
I can't wait until Maxi gets home today so I can show him all about making cuttings and putting them in water. He really wants to give a potted plant to our priest that he's done all by himself and he wants to keep one for his own room too. He's going to be proud and so pleased, so pleased.
Thanks again! Merme

merme, if you have a very sunny window, that will help it root fastest. or a room that has flourescent lights on a lot. but they root up pretty easily no matter what you do to it.
