Here's some info on care and maintenance of Lucky Bamboo.
We usually buy 12"- 18" lucky bamboos in single canes; some of these bamboos are planted in larger containers with soil, others are grown in one liter beer mugs (mugs from the Munich Oktoberfest). River rocks or Cat-eyes (marbles) were added inside the mugs for stability. The Bamboos grown in water have reddish-brown roots.
If you purchased the bamboo in gift pack with small size container you may have to transplant it at some point in the future when the container starts tipping due to the growth of and weight of the canes.

Well I have one bamboo and I got a cute jar and put some colored rocks in it and filled it up with water. And mine has been doing fine, I change the water about every 1-2 weeks. It likes warm water.

HI! I have a lot of bamboo and find that they are pretty resilient but have a few favorite conditions... Pot them in river rocks or marbles (stay away from colorful rocks- I had some in rocks that had apparently been dyed and it killed my bamboo). Also, they do better when potted in groupings of two or three. They do not need light, but the leaves will grow tall with some indirect sunlight. Keep the water level high, but change the water and rinse the rocks out every few months (don't use anything to clean the rocks, just rinse the slime off of them occasionally). Also, I've found that they really DON'T like fertilizer or plant food. Hope this helps!!

I Just got my Lucky Bamboo Yesterday at the Home Depot! I keep it here on my desk next to my computer. The stem it 2" and there are about6 leaves. I was noticing that there are some wholes in the leaves........is this a problem, or if I water it, should it keep growing? Im kinda new, so what is the node, the name for the stick that looks like the bamboo, and how tall should my bamboo be before I can cut a part off the stem thingy and make another lucky bamboo begin growing?
