I've been keeping my Asparagus fern inside as a houseplant, on the advice of someone on this site. It's been doing well, and looks lovely where I have it.

In the past week, I've noticed these...........er...........tendril things growing from the plant. At first I thought it was just new stems, and expected the little spiky leaves to start covering it. But, though the tendrils have some slight roughness to them (not a perfectly smooth tendril,) they are just getting longer and longer with no actual "leaves" for want of a better word to describe the spikes.

There are 6 or 7 of them now, and at least one is considerably longer than the longest plant stem. I've had to gently curl it around and lay it on the body of the plant.

What ARE these things? Are they in fact new growth, new stems, and they'll just fill out with spiky leaves over time? If not, what ARE they?

Bill!

Hi!

Long time no..............er..............see? Write? Whatever!

Thanks for the info. They're certainly the longest stems yet! And they're much more pliable, softer, than the existing ones. Guess they'll harden up over time.
