They say to start your brussel sprouts seeds inside and put out 7 weeks before the first freeze is due and do not harvest until after the first frost [thumb]

We ate the brussel sprouts with dinner tonight -
they were yummy! [Love]

I steamed some for my husband and me, and my daughter ate them fresh since she prefers her veggies uncooked. I only wish we had more! Two other stalks didn't produce sprouts of any size - I think they were too shaded by the leaves of this one. I plan on enlarging that garden this year so hopefully we'll get more next time.

Okay... it's almost 3 months after I posted about harvesting these brussel sprouts in the middle of winter. Now that it is finally warming up - 70F here today and very humid, I took a look and one of the stalks I cut back in January is growing from the bottom, and one that I didn't harvest because it had minimal sprouts on it is now growing like gangbusters!

What do I do with these now? [dunno]
Do I let them continue to grow? [dunno]
I planted 12 peat pots of brussel sprouts seeds last week, and they actually started to sprout the day after sowing! [nutz]

growing from bottom of harvested stalk

growing all along the unharvested stalk and the bottom
