Mine is bloomong now and it's gorgeous! Although it isn't reliably hardy here, mine has returned 3 years now and has grown quite large. I don't care for many summer flowering sages because they look rather ratty when they finish blooming even though you can cut them back and they rebloom. MBS looks nice from spring to frost. I also like many of the salvia greggii cultivars which I also usually have return. My favorite is 'Pink Preference'. For me, September is one of the best months for color... I have blooming now :

autumn sages
late flowering rudbeckia
tall phlox
mums
asters
late flowering liatris
reblooming azalias
butterfly bush
purple and white coneflowers
blue and red lobelias
dahlias
verbena
japanese anemone
perennial mist flower
rose mallow
perennial sunflowers
hyssop
cannas
caryopteris
lespedeza
sedums
four o'clocks
day lilies
morning glory
moon flower
roses
crape myrtles

There's probably more...

That sounds like a beautiful garden of color Alan!

I have various flowers in bloom too. Since its still so warm nobody's ready to go to sleep for the winter. I have...

dahlias (pushing everything else over [Wink] )
geraniums
Martha Washington's
canna lillies
hibiscus
salvia
roses
petunias
mums
impaitens
cyclamen
lantana (also pushing everyone else out of the way)
even my oregano is blooming too!

My hydrangeas are done as well as the calla lillies. [Eek!] I miss them already.

My fuchias are blooming but they look a little sad, kind of withered and dry. I think its just been too hot for them. Anyone have any ideas? They seem to come back alive in the late fall then again in the early spring. [perplexed] nutty plants...

Women and cats will do as they please. Men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.

Alan,
I have never seen that varity!! At first I thought you were talking about the Mexican Heather, that's a pretty little plant.

But I did go take a look at it, only found one picture on my short jaunt looking. The one I saw it sort of looked like lavendar, (from far away)
Sounds pretty.

What's in Bloom now????
Black Eyed Susan's
Morning glories
Begonias
Verbena bonariensis
Cleome
Argerateums
Malva's Zebrina's
Dahlia's
Snapdragon's
Beebalms' just finishing
Geranium
Purslane
Statis's (2 kinds German and the more common kind)
Borage
Portulaca's
Goldenrod
Asters (about 7 varieties)
Coreoptrisis
Caryoptrisis
Coneflowers
Late hosta (the one that smells so pretty)
Sweet peas
Rose of Sharon
Sedum's
Roses (Assorted)
Phlox
Japanese Anemones

I'm sure there's more, just can't think that far back into the garden.
But that was fun!!!
Thanks Alan!!
