[Embarrassed] Sorry it took so long to get back. This is an indoor plant Weezie and I used alcohol with a 70% solution, rubbed it on with a Q-tip twice every day for a week.By the way, the plant does'nt seem to be worse off because of the growth either, it's growing like a weed.
Thanks again, Wally.

Hey Wally, [wayey]
I have to admit, I don't have alot of house
plants, so I'm not too well versed in them,
I'm going to quote your original post so the gardeners will know your question....

I have a Pink Splash Hypoestes that has a weird growth around the base just above the soil. From the information I obtained from different sources I was sure I had a mealy bug problem. The pictures I've recently seen of mealy bugs look like little cotton balls around the stems. What my plant has is more like white hair growing around the stem.I tried alcohol, alcohol and more alcohol but I think I may have got the instructions mixed up...I kept falling down drunk and the hair is still there! ( and growing ) Any ideas? Thanks for your help, Wally.

N. of Corburn, Ontario?? And Lizheaemma, is in Northern, Ontario...Just curious?????
On the guest map in the New Members section,
they all look kind of close to my area???????

Hope someone comes through with some help,
I'm glad to hear your plant is doing well.....

[grin] Hi Weezie. Actually I think you may mean Colborn On. ( I don't think the spelling is right but it's pronounced that way ) and if that's correct then I'm only 45-60 minutes away depending on traffic.
Northern Ontario on the other hand covers a large area but I'm only about 90 minutes away from the " southern " end of the north too.I doubt I would no these fine Ontarians though.

Yeah Wally, typing was never one of my strong
points!!! Talking YES, typing NO!!

I like to get neighbors talking to neighbors.
Especially when the happenings' happen
and the weather starts' working it's magic...
It's nice to have close gardeners!!!!

So close, there was one that signed on here,
that was really close to my area,
I was looking forward to yakking with her,
but she never posted!!

Hey, ya never know, stranger things have been
known to happen.... I'm that way......and you might know the person, or meet someday, and be really glad you did.

Hey, when I win the big lottery, we're all heading to Bill's house!!!! BIG WINK!!! [Wink]
