I've recently relocated to south florida, and have a HUGE (probably over 15 years old), bird of paradise "TREE". It has bloomed twice since march. The blooms are white. Is this odd??? I have no clue how to care for it??? It looks to be about 5 different plants at the base and growing out of control. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Containergirl,
I'd like to Welcome you to The Garden Helpers Forum....We have alot of very nice gardeners here, all very knowledgable in gardening. They're a really nice bunch of people to chat with to, so feel free to stop on by the chat or Banter Hall and with your gardening adventures. And be sure to stop by the welcome wagon and introduce and tell us a bit of yourself....
If you scroll or put this post all the way back to the top, and you see the The Garden Helper heading, look to the middle of the page and you'll see 5 words written across.
The middle one says Forum Search. Click on that, type in the first line, Bird of Paradise, and make sure it says All Open Forums. Then hit search, I came up with 10 posts, there's some good info and lot's of good chatting.
Please keep us posted, we enjoy follow ups to our questions...
Stick around a bit, I'm sure someone else with post an answer for you.....
Hope this helps!!!
Happy Gardening!!!
Weezie

Don't know if you found the info you were looking for but if you look under gardeners chat and go to the topic titled "A white bloom on a bird of paradise". July 15, 2003. If your question was not answered come back and ask away.
