I have a jade plant (3' tall) (4" diameter). for the past few months the leaves have been falling off quite rapidly. It was in great health, but now a fine whitish powder forms on the top side of the leaf (a few at a time throughout the plant)and shortly after the leaf turns yellow/brown, curls up and falls off. I have tried rubbing off the powder which reveals a brownish spot and seems to prolong the life of the leaf, but it inevitably dies. The plant foliage is getting quite sparse. Water issue, nutrient issue, sunlight, pest?....It is outside during the summer and in an indirect sunlit window rest of year. Any help would be appreciated

Hi and welcome to The Garden Helper greenvan!
Spots sometimes occur on Jade plants, but they usually can be treated. The leaves that already have the spots can be removed if they are unsightly.
Brown spots that are dry are caused by underwatering. Remember that succulents require generous amounts of water during the summer. Overwatering will cause the leaves to wilt and become discolored. Soft brown spots are caused by leaft spot disease. Water with a systemic fungicide and improve air circulation. (This systemic fungicide will also be useful if the white stuff is "grey mold" or powdery mildew)

My new jade plant is doing the same thing. My Mom gave it to me for my birthday, so it means a lot to me. What is the best thing to do for this problem?
