I posted before about the leaves on my tomato plants curling....but all of them have pulled out now and doing good.

BUT...my cucumbers have also been doing VERY well and are vining all over the place. What I'm worried about is seeing a sort of white coating on the very bottom base of my plants. I think this is what I've seen in other years when a beetle got to them and after that white stuff began showing up, the plants begain dieing from the bottom up and all just bit the dust BEFORE getting all the cucumbers I could have for the season.

I have been spraying then regularly with a Malathion mixture. I sprayed them again this morning after soaking everything well.

Does anyone know if this is what it could be. Or, is this just normal for hot weather? Or could it be something else that I can do something about.

Thanks for any help or advice you can give.

Shirley in Illinois....Southern part...just across the bridge from St. Louis (In case you would need to know the zone I'm in.)
