What are the best and fastest growing trees and plans to plant in Maryland. I am just about finished building a home in rural area. The lot before we began building was 1.07 acres of towering oak trees. We were able to save the trees on the four sides and many on the North side. Any suggestions as to what we should now plant? Thanks.

I've heard that the best thing you can do is watch your property for a year and note: 1)Where the shady places are 2)Where the full sun places are 3)Where moisture collects 4)Where it gets very dry and cracked in summer Then you can choose plants that are appropriate for those areas.
Of course you can't wait that long!
Do you know what your hardiness zone is? I'm in Northern Virginia, Zone 6 (with a couple of subclimates). You may be in Zone 5. You'll want to know your zone- it'll be your guide to what plants and trees can survive where you live.
One good thing to do is to visit a local plant nursery. If it's a good one, the manager ought to be able to give you specific advice on what to plant.
