We have rooted grape cuttings in pots that we were unable to plant into the ground. Does anyone have recommendations on overwintering these plants in Zone 4? We can either mulch or store them bareroot but need details about how to do this. Thanks!

Your grape plants will probably survive the winter in the pots provided they are large enough and are well protected for the winter. Pile up the snow over the pots. This will help to insulate the roots. The plants should be in a well protected area out of the open spaces and protected from the wind. Keep the pots well covered into spring to help reduce the danger of repeated freezing and thawing on the roots. Plant them once the ground has warmed and new growth is seen on the vines.
