TxWildflower,
There are chemicals you can use I believe it is Malathion (check the label to be sure) but for cases that are not real bad I use over the counter rubbing alcohol. Label a bottle for plant use only and dip a cotton swab in bottle and dip onto the nasty little buggers. Have to get deep within the cracks and joints. Keep an eye on the plant weekly to do repeated applications. I like the effectiveness of Malathion but it really smells when applied. Interested in what others have to say. Keep us updated, catlover Karen

They also sell some ready mix insect spray for house plants at Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Comes in plastic spray bottle with spray trigger.Runs $3-$4. The bottle i have says it will kill mealybugs.

Karen,
Thanks so much for your reply..My palm tree is pretty big. I also have ivy planted under the palm in same pot..I have notice most the mealybug at the base of the plant. Thers some on the upper part too.So it might take awhile to try to get them all with alcohol..But I will keep that in mind ..Thanks so much for your reply..I kinda new at this..

You say most are at the base. I guess they may be coming from the ground then? Anyway I use citronella oil. I mix it with a little water and spray only at the base of the tree. NOT ON THE LEAVES it is too strong for leaves. Most bugs hate this stuff. I hope that you keep a good tree. Blessings to you, Thea
