Good morning all( it's morning here ).Hope all is well. First question: is the Easter Lily grown from a bulb? I've never seen one out of the dirt. Second question ( this one is crazy and I've already done the deed ):has anyone ever successfully air layered an Easter Lily? The reason I'm trying is that this plant has become very leggy and I just can't put up with that ( I'm ready to get the axe out!! ) I'm waiting for roots to show through the dirt bag (lol) but if it's a bulbous plant... I may be waiting till the cows come home, right? Anybody know? Thanks again, Wally

I did order alot of bulbs this spring, Orientals, Orienpets, Asians, Stargazer's, etc. I did notice when I potted them up in pots to get the roots going before I had an area to grow them ready, and that the roots did grow from the stems down into the dirt if the pot that I had them in was too small. So, it did seem that they did and would root from the stem, my only hesitation in answering this is, I'm not sure how far up the stem it would root...?????? There may be a limit to it's area to produce roots.
Also, as I've said to alot of new gardeners, I experiment alot, or the lack of doing something also produces another outcome....
So try it, it's hard to loose a plant (traumatic for me, I hate to do it butt....) But that's how you learn! Really, by doing, or the lack of doing you find out results.
This site has little pots for sale, I think there was 5 in a set. for like $8 or $12 bucks, can't remember now, but you clamp them around the stem, and fill with dirt and close it up. alot easier than bags I think, and reusable!!!

Easter lilies are very difficult to raise indoors. They need more light and greater temperature changes than we can usually provide inside. Also, many Easter lilies are hybridized and forced to bloom right at Easter. This tends to weaken the plant in other ways and make it less likely to re-bloom.
You can try moving in outdoors, but even that is no guarantee and depends a lot on your local climate. It is hardy in Zone 6 and higher. Personally, I would discard it after it has finished blooming.
