Is there possibly a plant that I could put in either my bathroom or livingroom that I could just hand in the corner. neither place gets any outside lighting. i just thought i would be nice to have someithing in there for a change but don't know what to get. Thanks for the help.

lxy, you can grow a golden pothos with no natural light. also, a wandering jew will be ok, it just won't have the vibrant purple on it's leaves.

i like the golden pothos but i'm having no luck with the one i have right now. i posted HELP! about it. the only thing i'm afraid of is my cat being able to jump up where i would put it atleast in the bathroom. is there something that i could use that is safe for the plants that would keep her away?

I found a great product in PetSmart called Boundary. It works great on keeping the cats away from the plants (smells awful though)
When I get a new plant (not as often as I would like ) I spray it every morning before work and every evening before bed. After about 3 weeks the cats don't go near 'em and I can stop spraying.

In another post somewhere, I read that orange peels will have the same effect. another no natural light plant is a peace lily. also a schefflera. be careful though, schefflera's grow as big as the pot you put them in, so if you don't want a huge one... (but that is only after years...)

With those type conditions , your lower light plants will live but not grow and thrive ..
But they will live and look nice for awhile , silverqueens , comutatums (Sp?) philos ,certin Dark green ivy , madame butterfly (nephtitis sp?) There are a few others just can't think of them right now .
Just watch your watering habbits with these . Keep them tight in their pots so that when you do water they use what you give and don't sit in wet soil for long as they will not use alot of water due to light .
So if you do not like the grow pot get one the same size or a basket to cover it ..

Minimum survival light for low light plants (pothos, Chinese evergreen, Dracaena 'Janet Craig') is natural light that is bright enough to read newsprint comfortably and it must be available for at least 8 to 10 hours per day. Any light less than that and you are fighting a losing battle.
