Suddenly I've found mealy bugs on some of my African violets. How do you get rid of them? You can't really spray them with Diazinon?? Help! I have 14 violets and don't want to lose them all!

First off I know nothing about African Violets. I have found using over the counter rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip works. Donate a bottle for plant use only. Wet the swab with straight alcohol and apply to the little buggers. They really like the crevices. You have to be persistant. I would try it on a small area on one plant first to see if the leaves etc. are not sensitive to the alcohol. Wouldn't want to kill your plants. Hope this helps. That was the one solution I knew of, but African Violets don't like getting their leaves wet, so I was afraid the alcohol would do them in. I may try it anyway, cause the plant would be lost to the mealies anyway.

Well, this seems to be the answer! My daughter's AV is in full bloom and gorgeous. I sure hate to lose it, and now mine is showing signs of the mealies. Think I'll do an inspection of them all and give them a dose!
Thank you both for your advice!
