I got some buckwheat seed as a trade.they were quiet genorous.says will add nitrogen where grown& will choke out weeds.I just wanna hear what someone thinks that has grown it.I know the straw from it will attract algea if i stick a bundle of it in my pond but moved my pond to help with that problem so hopefully won't need(water is still crystal clear)
just want some pros/cons to growing it.I'm not even sure where will try it at accept maybe under my burgs cause i love them so much... [Cool]

njoynit,
I'll bet your state or zone,
you could grow alot of the cold weather crops..
Cabbage, broccoli, beets, peas, Kolirabi (sp)?
carrots, etc. You don't get temps like we do!!
Why not experiment!!
Never know unless you try.
But it may vary from year to year.
One being colder or nicer than the next.
I know carrots taste better the longer you
leave them in the ground up here after it frosts and stuff. It brings out the sweetness..
We can over winter them in the ground too, by
adding alot of straw over the top for a winter's blanket. It doesn't freeze over and you can pull
back the cover from time to time and harvest from the ground.
