I have a trumpet vine that I have grown in a container for the past 2 years because I did not have anywhere to plant it. I am ready to plant it this year, but want to know if it HAS to have something in which to attach its suckers, or would it be okay to just use a metal arbor to have it grow over? Thanks for any advice!

Reenie from NJ, I planted a trumpet vine last year and I grew it on my metal arbor, but it has cris cross wire on it and it climbed all over it and now the top is nice and full, but I try to keep it in check, cause it will crab on to almost anything lol. No flowers yet, hoping this year.
Hope this helps you some.
