Today I was given a type of pie I have never seen before. It is SO delicious, I am hoping one of you might know how to make it!

It seems to be an ordinary apple pie but made with two crusts. The upper crust has a hole in the center, about 3 inches across. In that hole, a creme filling was added and then the cut away piece put back on top as decoration.

The creme filling was of lighter consistancy than a product such as Cool Whip but more dense than say, Redi Whip.

I also couldn't tell if the filling was added before or after baking. I guessed it was added after baking because it stayed in a large mound in the center of the pie and didn't spread out underneath the crust as I think it would have done if baked in the oven.

Anyone know how to make this pie and/or what type of creme filling it is?

You mean like the cream filling in cream puffs?
