With cold weather setting in, I am starting to prepare winter dishes again to heat up our cold bodies. I thought someone else might would like this recipe because of it's simplicity. My children loved it while they were growing up because they didn't like regular tomatoes in their foods. Picky eaters!

Chili 1,2,3

Chili powder
1 64 ounce container of Campbell's Tomato Juice
2 lbs. ground beef
3 cans bush light red kidney beans

Brown ground beef, strain, and add to tomato juice and kidney beans in large dutch oven. Season with chili powder to taste. Simmer over low heat for 30 minutes. Serve over cooked white rice and top with cheese.

If you DID like regular tomatoes (chunks) in your chili, you could add a jar of spaghetti sauce to this and it would still be simple!
Good recipe!
Might have to make this tonight. [thumb]

Hi,

So what do you do with the chilli once you make it?
I have always been facinated by this chilli dish.
Used to watch that tv show with bill cosby,
sometimes he would make this chilli recipe in a pot.
he and his wife would drool over it.

do you eat it like soup?
i imagine it's like a pasta sauce?

My husband eats it over noodles....

those with bread and butter~~

i crunch saltine crackers in mine and some folks put macaroni noodles in theirs. they call that "chili-mac"

it is also good over hotdogs (when i was pregnant with #1, i must have eaten a ton of those)

and some people put cheddar cheese in it (and on the hot dog too!)

if you like spicy chili, fast, try this:

1 1/2# ground chuck, browned
add 1 can "chili beans" (flavored) (i use Bush's)
1 can dark red kidney beans rinsed
1 can Hot rotel diced tomatoes
1 pkg french's "chili-o" mix
3 cans water
that's it, bring it to simmering for 15-20 minutes
we like it with a few fritos thrown in the bowl and a little grated cheese on the top
(gee, no calories there, huh?) [Big Grin] [lala]

We eat a LOT of chili...we put mustard/onions/cheese and eat it with saltines. A resteraunt I use to go to serve 3 way chili...chili, beans and spaghetti noodles...it was VERY good. We make a lot of deer chili and elk chili (elk being my favorite) but last week I made chili and used stew meat instead of chili meat and we really liked it! Chili is ALWAYS better when it is a day or so old so I always try to make it early and let the spices marinade together. And we like left over chili on baked potatoes or over burritos....endless ways to eat chili! [flower]
