Weez, I remember starting marigold seeds in egg cartons when the kids were small. Marigolds sprout so quickly it keeps the kids interested in their "garden". Fun! [grin]

We just threw the old flowers down
on top of the dirt and they sprout
right there all on their own.
What magic even for a seasoned
gardener to see that happen!!!!!!!

And the COLORS and SIZES they have in those now
adays, so many different ones.
