I think toad stools are fasinating.
They are each so different...
I love the ones with all the colors.
Like the first one.

We have them here, along the property,
and the little boy upstairs likes to
kick them over! [Mad] [Frown] [tongue]
I get after him!!!
Same for the fungus' growing on the
trees in the woods..
[tongue] [Mad] [Frown]

Keep up the good work!!!
Nice pictures [thumb]

Yep! They were all growing out in my woods, along with about a hundred other species.

The "cute" spotted one you like is Amanita muscaria. It was about 8 inches in diameter, growing in a colony of about 20 mushrooms.

Amanita muscaria was known as the "Sacred Mushroom" by Shamen and Medicine Men because of the mystical powers it possessed.
Remember the mushroom that Alice ate in Wonderland? This is the one!

Really???

I had neighbors one time next to my property,
he name was ANA, and she was from Poland,
and her father was here visiting..
She had married an American boy
and they had two tiny wee~ones....
And I used to give them extra stuff from the garden and she would make stuff and send it over,
hey, I"m no dummy, I do that alot, got the one upstairs sending down apple pies yesterday for dessert, YUM!!!~*gotta post something about her crusts too*~ Anyhow, Ana would send over zucchini nut breads and such and one day they were on the side of my drive way, checkin' out the mushrooms.
And I came over and said, whatchya doing??
Checkin' the mushrooms out, she said,
(hey, that's what I thought!!!)
And you know me, I gave them a quick lecture on how, you should never, never eat anything you weren't sure of and we've heard stories of people eating mushrooms and dying and getting sick, yadda, yadda, yadda.....
Well, she turned to me and we a nice smile
on her face she said, in Poland we grow up knowing which ones are and aren't edible....
and at a very early age we're taught what to
look for and how to identify them.
Smart parents!!!!

I look back on it now and wished I would
have pressed her a bit more for some info
on what to look for, she's since moved away
and no longer keep in contact, but boy the information I missed out on, I still am
kickin' my self in the butt for. [Mad]

I love that first one, it sorta looks
like snow or kosher salt on top...

I have read up on fairy gardening.....
and they have the cutest things in there
for the fairey's to live by and or with.
Mushroom's were their umbrella's like,
to keep the elements off of them...
I remember also they washed their
hair in lady's mantle too.
I'll have to go dig that info up,
haven't thought about that in awhile.
I'm always getting side tracked!
Go figure! [Roll Eyes]
