Did the soil in the planter box freeze hard? Your Primula may still come back to life... (I've got a few "ugly" ones too, but I never show the pictures of them!) [Embarrassed]

Lifting and dividing primulas P.Elatior

Around mid-June I decided to set out some primulas to fill in a couple of spaces along my border's path.

The one I selected to divide is a yellow one like the one here:
 -

...And it's about three or four years old:
 -

 -

 -

At the end of July, the divisions looked okay.
 -

they're now mulched and should winter over nicely:
 -

I managed to set out about a dozen plants, and figure they'll bloom year after next.

I have a primulas that I planted about 4 years ago. My husband picked it out so I really wanted it to succeed. It bloomed the first 2 years, but nothing since. It`s in the shade, but I wondering if it is too deep of a shady area? Help! Sue
