Butterfly weed..Asclepias tuberosa
This perennial plant is a native to North America. The clusters of fragrant orange flowers form on top of 2'-3' stems. The slender leaves are 2"-3" long and fuzzy. Butterfly weed grows best in full sun, with sandy, well draining soil. It resents transplanting. The blooming period is from July through August.
On a large plant, you could easily find several butterflies at any one time.
